Jessica Moughan
Jessica’s woven tapestry features strands of dyed wool, symbolising a diverse community. Clay beads convey the burdens we all carry and share, and our connection to earth and each other.
“If not for the interconnectedness of our woven stories and lives, the burdens would weigh down the individual strand. However, the load is spread by the tapestry and demonstrates the need for unity and togetherness.”
Jessica is an artist and potter living in Ngāruawāhia. As a new mother, Jessica has uncovered a calling to make deeper work and express herself as she explores different facets of femininity and the impact of trauma. Through this exploration, she crosses into other disciplines including fibre art and painting, which have provided interesting tools to convey her ideas.
