Hollie Tawhiao
A Waikato carver, Hollie merges different types of wood to create a whole, unified piece. Honohono draws inspiration from symbiotic relationships in nature and our Māori pantheon.
“Wood is a material that binds us all together — a common ground as a resource, shelter, art form, or sanctuary.”
Born and raised in Frankton, Hollie (Ngāti Tiipa) is a self-described “over-enthusiastic observer”. This spills into her creative, artistic, and writing practices as she attempts to constantly see her experiences from varied perspectives across multiple mediums.
